Superstition Airpark Operation Rules

  1. The Arizona Model Aviators Standing Rules must be followed at all times!
  2. The gate to the field is open any time a club member is present. Last club member out locks the gate.
  3. To fly at this field you must be a current card carrying
member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
  4. Visitor policy: Visitors who wish to try out the flying field or guests of a member may fly free for the first three visits (do not have to be consecutive). Visitors must possess a current AMA membership card and fill out the guest registration form. Forms are located on the east side of the storage container under the Ramada. After the initial three visits, joining the club or a $10 per day fee will be required.
  5. Park speed limit is 10 MPH or the speed that creates no dust whichever is slowest.
  6. No flying before:
7:00 AM weekdays  Monday – Friday.
    8:00 AM Saturday – Sunday – Holidays.
No restrictions on electric or non powered sailplanes.
Night flying is only permitted with advance notice and approval of Maricopa County Park.
  7. All glow powered aircraft must meet 103db at 3 meters.
All gasoline powered aircraft must meet 100db at 3 meters.
    Turbine aircraft are exempt.
Noise levels shall be measured in accordance with the detailed procedures contained the Noise Control Procedures. Exceptions for contests and events shall be at the discretion of the Executive Board of the AMA.
  8. For the safety of the field and its members, the club has made available a fire extinguisher stored in the Red Safety Box located west of the announcer stand, in the middle of the Ramada and locked with a lock coded with the gate code. If an emergency requires the use of the fire extinguisher, please let a board member know so we can move the depleted extinguisher out of the box. In order to insure that a fire extinguisher is available for the next emergency, the person or persons using the extinguisher will be responsible for replacing the fire extinguisher with the same type and size (pounds) within seven (7) days of its use.

  9. We abide by Maricopa County Park rules, therefore no glass containers allowed.
  10. Camping: Overnight camping is permitted at sanctioned events only. Prior approval is required as there are limited spaces available. A $10 fee will apply.
  11. Firearms: Carrying a firearm inside of  park buildings is restricted (ARS13-1301). Secondly, Arizona State Park rule R12-8-119 can restrict the carrying of a weapon outdoors. We do not ban legally carried firearms per se. CCW permit holders are exempt, but we have the right to limit exposure in order to maintain a family friendly recreational environment. Discharging of any weapon is prohibited.
  12. Profanity, cursing, poor sportsmanship, violent behavior, fighting, and other forms of unsocial behavior will NOT be tolerated.  The club board of directors, and the AMA, will take decisive action against anyone violating this rule.
